Not Just a Ghost of a Chance

I hope you all had a blessed weekend.

I don't really have a post today, just a bit of trivia.

But if you come back tomorrow, there's going to be a

I'll leave you with this:

The real Chance Gardner

This little guy right here, who just happens to be my granddog, Chance, has a role in my next book,

A Guilty Ghost Surprised.

He plays a ghost dog AND his name is Chance in the book.

He is also featured prominently on the cover. You will be amazed at the likeness my illustrator, Corona Zschusschen, created.

Have you ever featured people
or pets you know in your books?

    1. HaHa! I had to ask my daughter if he could play a ghost dog before I put him in. She didn't mind. And I couldn't resist.

  2. Chance is adorable.

As much as I love animals, I've never placed one in my books. Not sure why.

  5. Love Chance. I can't wait until tomorrow. And curiously enough, I put Gypsy, my cat, as a prominent character in my GHOST OF A CHANCE (another coincidence!)

Gyspy even takes on the role of narrator as she contends with the Sphinx of Thebes.

The novel describes my adventures when I get sucked into my own fiction worlds, hunted by ghosts and worse for the murder of the ghost of Ernest Hemingway! Thankfully, the ghosts of Mark Twain and Marlene Dietrich help me! My own take on NORTH BY NORTHWEST. :-)

  7. My cats' head would swell more if I did. I did base Rainly on someone I knew. She died unexpectedly, and I had said at the time I would find a way to memorialize her in my work some day. I'd like to do that for a few other people I've lost.

  8. So cute! I've never featured anyone I know. I figure it's safer that way in case they might read it!

  9. Greetings human, Gwen,

Hey Chance, my doggy buddy, you are going to be a superstar! Never mind Casper, you are going to be a see-through sensation in that bark, um book.

I'm working on a bark, sorry, book. It's about my puppy years when I took one look at my humans and decided I would go live with them. The title of the book is, "My First Bark." So yes, my human pets are featured in my book. Almost said bark, again.

And Chance, buddy, I do pawstings, postings on my human's site. Whenever I do the writing, he gets way more visits on his site.

    Pawsitive wishes and doggy kisses,

Penny the Jack Russell dog and modest internet superstar! xx

  11. Ain't Chance the looker. ;)

I've never included people or animals I know into a book, but I did write a book where a character was based off my niece. I suppose that counts, eh?

  12. My MC in 18 Things, Olga Gay Worontzoff is named after my two grandmothers, Olga Worontzoff and Gay :-) I say she's named after her grandmothers too . . . thankfully I wasn't, lol.
